While Balmain may never pair up with Nasty Gal…*cough, cough*Taylor Swift wouldn’t wear a knock-off on a major red
carpet, when she can wear the real thing*cough, cough*. There is a different fast-fashion retailer Balmain will be collaborating with this fall. The super chic, expensive designer brand will be collaborating with none other than…H&M.
The Parisian design house known for its bold, ultra-modern silhouettes, and unique color pairings is bringing high-end designs at a fast-fashion price, for everyone whose bank account has less zeroes than a Kardashian’s. The line will launch in 250 H&M stores and online November 5. Balmain will be the 11th designer brand to collaborate with H&M. Olivier Rousteing will join the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander Wang, Donatella Versace, and Isabel Marant.
For Balmain creative director, Olivier Rousteing, the collaboration is more than an interesting business decision, but a call for a social media movement. Rousteing said in a statement, “I want to talk to my generation: this is my main aim as a designer. H&M allows me the unique possibility of bringing everyone into the world of Balmain, to get a piece of the dream and create a global #HMBalmaination.”
What is #HMBalmaination you ask? The exact definition is:
“#HMBalmaination: a movement of togetherness, fueled on a hashtag.”
Rousteing can call for such a movement seeing he has over 1.1 million Instagram followers.
