For the final days of inspiration, I want to highlight a road on the fashion map less traveled…sneaker trends. Upon looking for new trends in men’s and women’s sneakers, I came across a show called “Detroit Rubber” on a new YouTube channel called Loud. The show follows the owners, Rick Williams and Roland Coit, of a unique Detroit store called Burn Rubber Sneaker Boutique.
Continuing with the inspirational theme of entrepreneurship, Rick and Roland have transformed Burn Rubber in just three short years. In 2007, they began their journey and have since became the sneaker & street wear boutique, are a part of the Michigan culture, design their own shoes, and now have their own show produced by Eminem and his manager Paul Rosenberg.
Considering when the duo began their business, companies did not want to work with a small urban store, they have come a long way. Today, they are international and collaborate with the likes of Nike, Adidas, New Balance, and Jordan’s to get the hottest (and sometimes rarest editions of) sneakers. Watch the first episode below, where Burner Rubber tries to find limited edition Nike’s for baseball player Prince Fielder.
